Cub Scout Pack 423 Holds Annual Pine Wood Derby at St. Joseph's Parish

  • January 30, 2012

Celebrating its 40th year in scouting, Pack 423 held its annual Pinewood Derby at the St. Joseph Parish Social Center on January 21, 2011.

The Pack numbers 41 boys organized in dens from grades 1 to 5. Each den winner will compete at the District Pinewood Derby in March at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown.

The Pack also had the top four scouts from each den race against each other in a Den Challenge and awarded special medals for design categories.

“We’re very proud to hold this event each year because it is amazing to see what these boys can do with a little block of wood,” says Pack Committee Chairman Jonathan White. “Plus the boys discover other benefits through the derby process itself: strengthening bonds, sharing responsibility, learning new skills, exercising creativity, and building sportsmanship.”
