READING – EMARC is once again partnering with Marathon Sports to host their 18th annual 5K Road Race and Walk on Sunday, September 9th. The race through downtown Melrose raises funds for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The race kicks off at 9:30 am with a Kids ½ mile Fun Run . The 5K for runners starts at 10:00 a.m. and walkers start at 10:05 a.m. Both races begin and end next to the Melrose Family YMCA located at 497 Main Street.

“This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, and businesses to come out, have fun, and support a great cause” says Amy O’Brien, Director of Development for EMARC.
Last year, more than 300 runners from around Massachusetts came out to support EMARC. For this year’s run, Marathon Sports owner Colin Peddie says he hopes to top that number.
“We’re honored to support and work with an organization like EMARC that is truly dedicated to improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities,” said Peddie.
