Defy the Pollen for Yard Sale Season, an Apples Lecture, and Eco Film

Yeah, it’s allergy season. And those flowering trees are more evil than usual this year. But there are so many great things going on around town and beyond! Pack some tissues, take some meds, and Get Out!

Historic New England Apples Lecture

  • Where/When: Medford Public Library/Thursday, May 5, 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: Did you know that apples have a rich history in New England? If not, this might be a good time to find out more.
  • Pricing: Free

Spring Bird Walk

  • Where/When: Across from Sentry Ford/Saturday, May 7, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Why Go: Take advantage of the spring weather to head out and explore our local bird populations, and be done in time for Yard Sale season!
  • Pricing: Free

Multi-Family Yard Sale

  • Where/When: West Medford Congregational Church Lawn/Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: In addition to many yard sale goodies, there will be a raffle and the chance to win Red Sox tickets.
  • Pricing: No Entry Fee

Bag It (the movie)

  • Where/When: Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, Melrose/Saturday, May 7, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Follow an ordinary filmmaker on his quest to unravel the mysteries of the world of one of today’s environmental foes, the plastic bag.
  • Pricing: Free

SoWa Open Market

  • Where/When: 460 Harrison Avenue, Boston/Every Sunday until October, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: This market blends vendors, artists, and farmers to give shoppers a unique experience, and a great excuse to get over the river once in a while.
