Good morning, Medford! Here are five things you need to know today, Monday, Jan. 7:

1. SCHOOL COMMITTEE: The Medford School Committee will meet tonight in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, first at 6:45 p.m. for a caucus, then at 6:55 p.m. for an organizational meeting, then their regular meeting at 7 p.m. The agenda can be viewed here.

3. FOLLOW MEDFORD ON TWITTER, FACEBOOK: Last week, the city of Medford announced they had launched new Twitter andFacebook pages to give residents information on social media.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORYOn this day in 1789, America's first presidential election is held. Voters cast ballots to choose state electors; only white men who owned property were allowed to vote.
