Last Chance: Register to Vote for State Primary Election
Mail-in voter registration forms are available online and must be postmarked by this Friday.
Have you registered to vote yet? Time is running out for all you procrastinators out there.
If you plan to vote in the Sept. 6, 2012 state primary election, you must register to vote by this Friday, Aug. 17.
Voter registration can be done through the mail, in person at City Hall, or at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Registering by mail
You can request to have a voter registration form mailed to you by emailing the Massachusetts Elections Division at email@example.com or by calling 617-727-2828.
However, since registration deadline is Friday, you are probably better off downloading a form online and mailing it in to the Elections Division. Remember, the forms must be postmarked by Aug. 17 in order to register for the state primary.
According to the Mass. Elections Division, voter registration forms are also available at local colleges, universities and vocational schools.
The National Voter Registration Form is also available online for those who need to register in other states.
In person at City Hall
If you have some time between now and Friday, you can head down to Somerville City Hall and register in person.
At the RMV
If you're heading to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to apply for or renew your driver's license, you can fill out the voter form.
If you moved recently to a different city or town, you must re-register to vote at your new address. If you moved within the same city or town, just let the local elections office know (in writing) about your change of address.
And if you miss this deadline...
Make sure you register in time for the state/national election on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. The deadline to register for that election is Wed., October 17, 2012.
