Two local teachers have launched a project to bring comfort to children in Newtown, Connecticut following last week’s mass killing.
Emily and Elizabeth Donnellan were featured Tuesday night in a report on WBZ talking about the “Teddy Bears for Newtown” project where they are working with the local newspaper in that town to distribute the bears to local children. They reportedly plan to drive down to Newtown Saturday with the donated bears.
More information, including drop off places, can be found on the Teddy Bears for Newtown Facebook page.
In Medford, The Dance Haven Center for Dance Education at 379 Salem St. is accepting donations until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Other nearby drop off places are the Saugus Public Library and Mana Salon at 222 Center St. in Malden, both accepting donations until Friday.
For all those who are out of state and would like to donate, bears can be shipped to 18E Austin Court, Saugus, MA 01906.
The two women are reportedly hoping to bring 700 donated teddy bears down to Newtown.
