Magic Factory Owner Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Credit Card Fraud

Harry Levy was sentenced Thursday.

Harry Levy, the owner of Hank Lee's Magic Factory in Medford, was sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday for committing credit card fraud and misleading investigators, according to a court official.

Levy, 61, of Lexington, pleaded guilty in April to making over $560,000 in fraudulent charges to one customer's credit card over a two year span starting in 2009, then lying about the charges to investigators, according to court filings.

Judge Patti Saris handed down the sentence in a hearing Thursday morning at U.S. District in Boston. Levy's attorney unsuccessfully argued for him to avoid prison time and serve six months in a halfway house, six months house arrest and three years probation instead, according to court filings. His plea agreement also requires him to pay restitution to the victim.

Prosecutors sought a 30 month sentence for Levy, a fine of about $60,000 and two years of probationary supervised release, according to filings.

Thursday's sentencing calls for Levy to serve supervised release in addition to the two-year imprisonment, but further details of the sentencing were not immediately available Thursday afternoon.

Further details will be published as they are made available.

Finally, a somewhat balanced article about my father for once. Nice to see you weren't out for blood today.

Balanced article? You mean he isn't a thief who stole a half a million dollars (that we know of) and issues rubber paychecks to his employee?

If someone jumped over the counter and stole $500,000.00 from the register at Mr Levy's store that person should go to jail. Stealing over $500,000.00 by credit card fraud and then lying about it should have the same penalty.

Amen, Mike and Chance! Aron, I am sorry that YOU have to suffer from this, but he should have received MORE prison time and these articles have been fair and factual. Again, I am sorry for you, Mom, and Lucas.

My prayers are with the victims. This man should also have to pay for his incarceration and the investigation.
