Makeover Coming for Meadow Glen Mall?
The Boston Herald is reporting renovations for the '70s-era mall could be coming from New England Development.
The Boston Herald reported Thursday that preliminary plans are being formulated for a major face lift to the Meadow Glen Mall on Mystic Valley Parkway in Medford. Plans for the mall, which first opened in 1979, are reportedly being made by Newton-based real estate firm New England Development.
A spokeswoman for New England Development told the Herald there is no timetable for a re-development but that it's something the firm is looking at. The paper reported Walmart may be eyeing the site after plans to open in Somerville and Watertown were dropped in 2012.
Meadow Glen Mall's anchor stores include Kohl's and Marshalls.

While I would be happy about the facelift, I would NOT be thrilled about having a Walmart in Medford.

I think it would be fought Chris, but they are trying, some tenants have already been given notice to get out.

Jamie and Chris, I hope you're right about people fighting this. Bear in mind, though, that part of the reason Medford got saddled with I-93 running straight through the middle of the city is because not enough people opposed it.

We don't need no stinkin' Walmart. How about a mall full of locally owned business? Bookstores, craft stores, cafes, consignment stores, etc.
