Medical responders reportedly found a "severely burned" female victim after a motor vehicle accident on Medford Street in Malden near the Malden-Medford line early Tuesday morning, though no further word on her condition was immediately available.

Crews responded to a motor vehicle accident near 500 Medford St. around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. One car was reportedly fully engulfed in flames but quickly put out by firefighters.

Photojournalist @SparkyThePit reports that, according to a police scanner transmission, the state medical examiner's office "will be in touch" with Malden officers investigating the crash.

While the office is responsible for investigating fatalities, no official word on the condition of any victims in the crash is yet available.

"I heard the loud noise from the crash of the sign, and then looked outside to see the car completely on fire," resident Kelly Votolato said on Twitter.

Photographs show a simmering and totaled vehicle just before the Fellsway.
