The Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar, a Sikh Temple in Medford, will hold a prayer service for the victims of a shooting spree at a Sikh Temple in Wisconsin last Sunday.

The Medford-based Sikh temple will hold a service for the victims at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, according to an announcement on its website.

"We, as a Sangat (congregants) of this Gurudwara pray for the fast recovery of the victims and the officer wounded in this  tragedy," the announcement said. "We express our gratitude and thanks to the law enforcement and emergency officers who risked their life to save the innocent victims."

Wade Page, 40, entered a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisc. on Aug. 5 and killed six people inside. Page was shot in the stomach by a police officer, then shot himself in the head, according to media reports. Page was an Army veteran and white supremacist, according to Reuters.

Sikh was founded as a religion in the 15th century in an area now part of Pakistan. They follow the teachings of Gurus -- master's of the religion.

The Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar is located at 226 Mystic Avenue in Medford.
