Medford Snow Budget in Red After Storm

According to Boston.com, the city's snow budget was in rough shape even before this past storm.

Medford's snow removal budget was already in rough shape before the weekend blizzard and now it's running in deficit, according to a Boston.com report published Tuesday.

Mayor Michael J. McGlynn told Boston.com snow removal budgets are often underfunded as a means of keeping other items within a budget instead. Also, McGlynn said the state allows municipalities to carry over snow removal budget deficits to the following fiscal year.

McGlynn also told Boston.com the city received over 70 complaints from residents Monday over Medford streets that needed plowing and that fewer vehicles were towed from city streets during this storm than others because "people paid attention."

Medford residents have been complaining about the plowing during this storm on Medford Patch's Facebook page.

I drove thru Medford the side streets are terrible. 70 complaints. I'm surprised it was'nt more. Mc Glynn is only concern about himself NOT the city . Good Luck Medford.

Well last year City Hall spent next to nothing on snow removal. What happened to that money?
