Medford Woman Allegedly Kicks Out Cruiser Window After OUI Arrest
A woman being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of liquor kicked out the window on a State Police cruiser on Thursday morning.
A Medford woman allegedly kicked out the back window of a State Police cruiser in Danvers early Thursday morning after being arrested for driving under the influence of liquor.
The incident happened at 1:38 a.m. on Route 1 northbound at Centre Street. A State Trooper assigned to the Danvers barracks stopped a vehicle at the Centre Street overpass and later arrested the driver, Katie Weismann, 26, of Medford. She was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, assault and battery on a police officer, malicious destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest and marked lanes violation.
While she was being arrested, Weismann allegedly kicked out a window on the cruiser.
The trooper was not injured, said State Police Lt. Daniel Richard, a department spokesman. A State Police sergeant also responded to assist since the cruiser was damaged, Richard said.
The damage to the cruiser will mean it will be taken off the road.
“It will be out of service until it gets fixed,” Richard said.
