MWRA May Cause Discolored Water in Medford on Wednesday

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be reactivating a water pipeline on Riverside Avenue.

The following information was provided to Medford Patch by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA).

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, the MWRA will be re-activating a water pipeline on Riverside Avenue in Medford. There is a slight chance that this work may cause discolored water in the City. There will be no change in water pressure.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While it is safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used.

Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work. Please call MWRA at 617-305-5950 if you have any questions.
