New City Councilor Ready to Get to Work

Rick Caraviello came in third in Tuesday's election, securing a spot on the City Council.

Rick Caraviello will be new to the City Council Tuesday, though his face is already a familiar one to many in Medford.

Caraviello, 57, previously served as the executive director of the Medford Chamber or Commerce, and has worked extensively with the Medford Kiwanis and Medford Rec Hockey.

He received 4,589 votes Tuesday, enough for third place and 521 more than 8th-place finisher Mark Arena.

"I was hoping just to get on, nevermind place third," Caraviello said Wednesday. "I'm overwhelmed."

Caraviello, the owner of RC Limo, previously said the most important issues facing the city are aging police, fire and public works departments, and outdated technology for our schools.

"I'm going to be myself - a reasonable, calm voice and do my best for the community," Caraviello said.
