ORIGINAL STORY: Just before noon Friday Medford Patch began seeing reports on social media about power outages impacted Medford.

National Grid's outage map showed 7,732 customers without power in the city at noon. According to their map, that represented about one-third of customers in the city.

Our Facebook and Twitter pages have lit up with people saying where they've lost power and that stretched across the city, including parts of Tufts University.

Some people have reported just flickers, while others have already had theirs restored.

No word yet on what may have caused the outage.

Patch will update with more information when it becomes available.
