The state continues to add jobs, though the picture is less clear community to community.
The state's unemployment rate ticked down another tenth of a percentage point last month and Medford kept up with the pace, according to figures released by the state's Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The May rate is 5.8 percent, down from 5.9 percent in April. The state gained 17,000 jobs over the month.
Medford's rate dropped from 5 percent in April to 4.8 percent in May, according to figures released Tuesday by Workforce Development.
In the greater Boston area, the trends vary. Boston and Cambridge saw a slight uptick in unemployment.

What i don't understand is if these numbers are true..why are the amount of people on food stamps, welfare, free housing etc. soaring? Doesn't add up..we have already seen the Patrick administration manipulate the numbers ie 49k jobs created changed to 5k..I don't believe a word out od these liars.

Unemployment numbers keep going up and they don’t come close to telling the whole story. They don’t take into account everyone who has given up looking for work or for all those under-employed. The Federal Reserve reports that American’s have lost 40% of their wealth under Obama. Those green jobs didn’t work out so well either. They estimate the cost of each green job at somewhere around 5 million “each”.

Yet the voters of medford will go running to vote for any unqualified candidate w a D next their name..yeah warren and Kennedy would be great choices! People are waking up to this corrupt administration but it really shouldnt have taken this long.

Stevie please give some of your fellow voters from Medford the benefit of the doubt. Not all of us vote for that inept autocrat in Medford City Hall known as Mayor McGlynn every two years. Nor do I worship at the altar of the Kennedys. I also pride myself on not being a lemming who constantly votes for every candidate with a D after their name because I'm from Massachusetts. To each his/her own. But I like to think that I take voting more seriously than that.
