This Weekend: Kayak the Mystic, Re-Enact the Revolution, Harvest Your Energy

A look at some of the events happening in Medford this weekend.

 

October is a busy month in Medford. There's lots of community events going on every weekend. Here's a few things to do around this city this weekend:

Saturday, Oct. 13:

  • Kayak Trip on the Mystic River: Join the Mystic River Watershed Association for a guided paddle on the river and learn about its wildlife, environmental issues and history. Recommended $10 donation. Trip starts and ends at the Condon Shell on Route 16, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • The First Patriots: Rebels at Mystic Riverbend Park: Check out this Revolutionary War reenactment camp that re-creates the scene from the Seige of Boston. Mystic Riverbend Park, behind Andrews and McGlynn School from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Harvest Your Energy Festival: Learn about Medford's wind turbine and other energy-saving technology and techniques. At the wind turbine behind McGlynn Middle School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday, Oct.  14:

  • International Family Festival at Springstep Dance Studios: Live music, arts and crafts for the family at this annual event. Across from Medford City Hall at Springstep from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
