Three Face Cocaine Charges After Jerome St. Raid

One of the arrested, John Viera, was a victim in a shooting that killed his son in 2011.

Three people were charged with cocaine-related offenses in Tuesday morning's raid at 55 Jerome St. in Medford.

One of those arrested was John Viera, 62, of that address, who was a victim in the Feb. 2011 shooting at the residence that killed his son, John Hatch, 36.

Medford Police Capt. Kevin Faller could not provide details on any possible links between the two cases, referring those questions to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

One person, Gerald Sullivan of Charlestown, was charged in the summer of 2011 in connection with the shooting.

Viera was charged with a single count of possession to distrbute cocaine. Also charged Tuesday were: Michael Hendricks, 37, of an unknown address, on charges of conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession to distribute cocaine, cocaine trafficking and possession to distribute drugs; and Joseph Zimmerman, 39, of 55 Jerome St., on two counts of possession to distribute drugs, conspiracy to violate drug law and cocaine trafficking.

Faller said the three suspects were arraigned Wednesday and released.

On Tuesday at 6 a.m., Medford Police along with the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) served a drug warrant at the property.

Faller said the warrant came after an investigation by Medford Police.
