Where Would You Put a New Medford Community Garden?
Is there a prime location for a new one?
Medford City Councilor Michael Marks plans to ask the city to look into where it could build a new community garden. Got any ideas?
The existing community garden is located behind McGlynn Elementary School, but it has a two-year waitlist, according to a council resolution from Marks.
Do you think the city needs a new community garden? Where would the best location for it be? Tell us in the comments.

Put it alongside the Mystic, near Whole Foods! It's sunny and the land is totally underused.

I was thinking the same thing. The area on the corner of Webster and Fountain has plenty of space.

Along Grove street and train tracks - close to Tyler Avenue. There was a community garden at this location in years past (so I've been told).

I agree with putting it along the Mystic. Either on the side of Whole Foods or across the river near the ball fields, or over by the music shell -- an area that is also totally underused.

As the school budget in Medford is not even level funded and the arts programs have been greatly reduced, it would be nice to get school students involved in this as well. I like the idea of along the Mystic.

mf54....Great Idea...they can dig up where the "Dangerour-Broken-Unused" skateboard area at Medford Hign is......past the Voc. the last time it was safe was in the early "90"
Vegetation thru the cracks for the past 15 years..yeah.. a garden would be great at Medford High...we can have a "field of dreams" and a "field of greens".....not that anyone in Medford goes....hungry.....NOT

How about in Condon Shell Park? This is DCR land that has been temporarily transferred to City oversight for a period of years, so it's my understanding that the City can use it without having to go through extensive negotiations with DCR. The park is lovely now (although without any lighting, so not usable at night), and it has a fair amount of free space with enough sun for a garden. It also has a handy parking lot.

The perfect spot is Mcnally park..also know as Webster park..WHY.. they have let the baseball field fill in with grass...dogs go and fertilize it daily.....parents run back and fourth to and from play structure to play stuctures that are 300 ft away from each other....put it there...perfect place..no respect for the parents and families that use it..I spoke to 2 women that have lived it the neighborhood for over 50 years..they went on to tell me that they approached the mayor in his office several times over the decades to combine the play area..so parents cansafely watch their kids...the mayor would always say next year..after 25 years of waiting..ITS NEXT YEAR..
earth to the Mayor..come in Mike fix the field or make it a garden..YOUR CALL!

I didn't know we had a community garden at all! If there is a two year wait list it's definitely time for another one. I defer to the rest of you on where it should be.

Playstead, Tufts, Victory, all these parks have plenty of space for community gardens. Along the river across from Whole Foods is another spot or why not several all along the Mystic? We have plenty of open space. Provided that some sort of varmit proof fence is put up.
KHG - Grove street and train tracks - close to Tyler Avenue did have a community garden. I used to pass by it to play at Playstead Park as a child.

Does the antique musket need only minor parts such as ramrod furrels, nosecaps, or another part that does not impact the style or importance of the antique musket. Thanks for sharing.
