MWRA Mayor and Council Should be Fined

Dear Neighbors,

The Mayor and most of the Council have misappropriated the Water and Sewer Enterprise money. How do We the People let them know that what they did was wrong. They made the error, not the people. The only way we could pay ourselves back would be through yet higher taxes or higher water and sewer rates. The money raised would then sit in the already bloated water and sewer account. Repaying ourselves by raising taxes or water rates might wake up the sleeping citizens, so you could make this case. But it could also be seen as a further punishment on the people who had nothing to do with the misappropriation.

There is an alternative - Fine the Mayor and Councilors so they will pay for their error. We should Fine the Mayor and Councilors (except Mr. Marks) $1000 dollars each. They should pay this Fine by the April 15th Federal Tax Deadline. The $7,000 dollars raised with these funds should go to the Medford Public Library which serves everyone in the city and can do the most good.

This solution will hurt their egos more than their wallets I assure you, and they will not have gotten completely away with it. They will then think twice before doing it again - we would hope.

Respectfully,

Jeanne Martin

Dear Neighbors,

Mr. Richard Caraviello was not a member of the council at the time of this vote. I would like to make this correction and apology to him. The following should be fined; Mr. Michael McGlynn, Mr. Robert Miaocco, Mr. Robert Penta, Ms. Breanna Longo-Koehn, Mr. Camuso, and Mr. Della Russo.

Respectfully,

Jeanne Martin
