Top 10 Reasons I Love the Medford Farmer's Market

I love going to the Medford Farmer's Market.  I used to think that going to a farmers market was an opportunity to get inexpensive food.  I've since learned that that's not why you go to a farmer's market.

The top 10 reasons why I love our local farmer's market:

10. Fresh picked fruits and veggies

9. Supporting local farmers

8. Great local entertainment

7. My children beg me to go

6. Wine tasting

5. Local non-profits share information, last year I learned about our local Boys & Girls Club

4. We always run into friends and neighbors.

3. My daughter found a delicious beef stew last week

2. My son begs me to buy him fresh baked bread

1. My other son begs me to buy him kale and he eats it!

Why do you love the love the Farmer's Market?

Pete Harmon,
Yes They Are. They Became "Medford Square Market II" For-Profit On Jan.28th. 2009, When Resident Agent And Board Member Nikole Roome Torres Had Papers File To Dissolve The " Medford Square Market" On Or About September 21st, 2009. The Market Goes By "Medford Farmers Market"..but the Corporation is Listed As "Medford Square Market II" .
Point Of Information: Nikole Roome Torres Was Market Manager From 2008 at River Street. Location Untill 2010 When The Market Moved To Whole Foods. What Is Interesting Is That A Lengthy Article Was Written In The Transcript Over A Month Ago On " The Evolution Of The Farmers Market"..Which Documented Everything About The Market from Beginning To Present Day. Whats Strange Is There Is Absolutly NO MENTION Of "Nikole Roome Torres ." I Find This Very Interesting..Why Isn't Ms.Torres Mentioned??
Does Anyone From The "Medford Farmers Market"-"Medford Square Market II".. Want To Enlighten The Rest Of Us., Or Maybe Ms. Torres Would Like To Respond To This Article??

You can probably find the answer to that question right next to McGlynns budget plan!

Pete Harmon,
I guess the "Medford Farmers Market" reads a different paper.

I'm not sure why Ms. Torres wasn't mentioned in the article; everyone who has been involved in the market wasn't mentioned in the article, though. You may want to take it up with the Transcript. Not sure what this has to do with anything.

I don't blame anyone from the Market not responding to these messages. I'm still not sure what your beef is here. Seriously. The Patch has deteriorated to such a point it's not worth posting anymore unless you like getting shouted at or stalked.

I dont have a beef..most organization love free publicity..Why do you take offense to asking for clarity. I didn't realise that other members were not mentioned..I didn't ask some nitwit for clarity..i ask if any one from the market wanted to respond. I posted an introduction for anyone to comment..and then we got you. Sad you have to put an evil spin on trying to get information to the public. Shame you had the floor and you chose to slam the paper. My comment was light hearted..you took it wrong.

I asked the question because they have a donate button on the markets website and I have seen them in the past looking for volunteers. I think its odd for a for profit business to ask for donations and volunteers. I do know in the beginning they were a true non-profit.

Pete Harmon,
All I know is in 2009 the IRS ask that all non-profits, must file quarterly reports in order to keep their non profit status. That was the only change made in requirements, keep good records, clear minutes of meetings and show your quarterly figures. The page your asking about does have a donate button..that's the original page from when they were a non-profit. As far as asking for volunteers as a for-profit..I think anyone can ask for volunteers and ask for donations, as long as you don't imply your non-profit. Pete I'm really not sure, that's why I ask anyone from the market to give some information. For some reason people get bent out of shape if you ask anything about the market...as you can see from other posts. Hopefully your question may get others to shed light on some questions raise on Patch by you and others. Why their page has a donation button...I have know idea? Its the same page they have had since conception. I was surprised when they went for-profit, they had 21 vendors in 2008..the numbers have gone down since then. Thats why I was wondering why Ms.Torres wasn't mentioned, she got the market to grow..after she left the numbers have gone down. You will find that no-matter what you ask, A chip off somebody's shoulder gets thrown in your face.
