The Medford City Council will elect a new president Tuesday, according to its agenda.

The council’s longtime president, Robert Maiocco, did not seek re-election this fall after 15 terms on the council, 13 as president. Political newcomer Adam Knight replaced him on the council.

The council meeting starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in Medford City Hall’s Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium.

Who would you like to see as the next council president?

  • Paul Camuso
  • Richard Caraviello
  • Frederick Dello Russo Jr.
  • Adam Knight
  • Breanna Lungo-Koehn
  • Michael Marks
  • Robert Penta

Breanna Lungo Koehn was Council President in the past and did an excellent job. The logical mind would want an experienced, steady hand like Lungo-Koehn leading the council for the next two years.

Dear Neighbors, There will be a technical vote on Tuesday night but it has already been decided outside the view of the public. Mr. Camuso will be the next president of the Council, I hope he is as fair as his predecessor in listening to the public. Mr. Miaocco over saw many a heated and contentious debate and I pray Mr. Camuso gives the public their due right as well. Respectively, Jeanne Martin

Notice, Jeanne, how we render opinions on these elected officials while their supporters cannot give reasons why these government officials deserve an extra 3K and what their qualifications are. It is easy for anonymous people who won't put their name on their thoughts to fling mud at the messenger, much harder to show courage and render an opinion on those who are in elected office. Good work, Jeanne. Keep up the good fight.

Jeanne does offer opinion, little different from your lies and innuendos. Your other post uses the word indictment several times....all classic empty Joe V'isms. Not surprised you erased Maria's comment. She hit the nail on the head---- you add nothing positive to the community, it's all about you

I believe the vote for Council President and Vice president tonight will still be following the revised practice of voting for a one year term. I'm expecting next January to see a vote for calendar year 2015.
