Sun Bug Solar hires Medford Environmental Studies Graduate.

SunBug Solar, with offices in Arlington, has hired Medford resident Anna Guigli as coordinator with the Solarize Medford program.   Anna is a 2009 Medford High School graduate, and 2013 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.S. in Environmental Studies. Anna became interested in environmental studies during her Senior Year at MHS in Ms. Carmosino’s popular class.

A West Medford native, Anna is a key member of the Medford Solarize team. Solarize Massachusetts is  a grassroots clean energy initiative, run statewide by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER). The program aims to help residents, businesses and organizations save  money on the cost of solar electricity while encouraging the use of a clean energy source to power homes and businesses.

As Solarize coordinator, Anna is responsible for the overall marketing and event planning, of the Medford Solarize team which includes Medford’s office of Energy and the Environment, headed up by Alicia Hunt.  She is busy calling interested residents and arranging home solar surveys, helping to provide information at the Solarize workshops, Circle the Square and the Farmer’s Market.  Medford’s Volunteer Solar coaches, Gael Motz and Kathleen McKenna are definitely enjoying working with Anna to spread the word on this special program.

Sun Bug Solar was chosen as the installer for this limited-time program, and they have just announced the first contract home. Last summer, SunBug ran a similar program in Newburyport where there were more than 50 solar installations.  If you are interested in learning more about Medford’s Solarize program, please check the website, www.MedfordSolarize.org or send an email to Medford.Solarize@gmail.com.  If you’re out and about in Medford this summer, watch for the Solarize team, say congratulations to Anna and ask her about Solarize!
