Construction Begins on New 163-Unit Housing Development

Crews officially broke ground Tuesday on the new 163-unit housing development near the Meadow Glen Mall.

Waltham-based Criterion Development Partners is behind the project at the site of the old Sentry-Lincoln car dealership at 3780 Mystic Valley Parkway, between the mall and Hormel Stadium.

“It’s a great day for us to actually be able to come out here and see dirt moving,” Criterion’s Jack Englert said Tuesday at the groundbreaking ceremony.

He said the project’s first units should be available in 16 months, and it should be finished in 21 months.

Project’s like this are not only attracting their target demographic, 25-35 year olds, there also starting to bring in empty nesters, Englert said.

Mayor Michael McGlynn said the project is a big win for the city. In addition to generating tax revenue and 16 more affordable housing units, the project brought in more than $300,000 in building-permit fees and more than $500,000 in linkage fees.
