Five Things: Schools Back in Session

What Medford should know today, Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

Happy New Year! Here are five things to know today, Wednesday, Jan. 2:

1. Sunny and cold. Today in Medford will be mostly sunny with a high near 28, according to the National Weather Service. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph. Tonight, mostly clear, with a low around 10. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

2. Schools back in session. Medford Public School students return to the classroom today.

3. SNAP users get matching "Market Bucks" at Medford Winter Farmers Market. The market is open every Thursday in January and February at Hyatt Place in Medford Square. In addition to being open this winter, shoppers who pay with EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card for SNAP can use their card at the Medford Winter Farmers Market. Present your card at the Manager Table to receive up to $20 in matching "Market Bucks."

4. School council meets. The Andrews Middle School Council meets today at 4:45-5:30 p.m. in the school's conference room.
