St. Joseph, St. Francis to Join Forces

The two Catholic churches are among 45 in the area that are joining together to pool resources.

The Archdiocese of Boston recently announced that St. Joseph Parish and St. Francis of Assisi Parish will pool resources as part of the second phase of restructuring efforts.

The two are among 45 Catholic churches across the state that will enter the collaborative efforts.

The efforts are a directive of Cardinal Sean O’Malley and Pope Francis I called “Disciples in Mission – A Pastoral Plan for the Archdiocese of Boston.”

The first phase began in January according to the Boston Globe, which reported that the reorganization aims to eventually group the archdiocese’s 288 parishes into about 135 clusters.

St. Joseph’s is at 114 High St. in Medford Square, St. Francis at 441 Fellsway West near Route 93.
