See Some of the Treasures at Two Sisters Antiques

The West Medford shop has a wide variety of items from the 1960s back to more than 200 years ago.

Stepping into Two Sisters Antiques in West Medford is like a trip back in time, and a peak into a treasure chest.

Run by sisters Theresa and Linda Turino for 13 years in July, the store always has something new – well new to them at least.

“We meet people at the point where they are downsizing or their parent is moving to a facility or passed on,” Linda said. “And we meet people on the other side – young people looking for furniture for their house.”

“It’s the circle of life for these items,” Theresa added.

While most customers come from Medford and surrounding communities, Two Sisters has customers across the globe.

“The furthest we sent something was Dubai,” Theresa said. “A woman wanted a 1950s designer dress – an old Newbury Street wool suit.”

They have also sent items to Australia.

Inside the 2,000 square foot store, the Turinos have all kinds of things, big and small: furniture, paintings, glass, jewelry, rugs, and much more.

The Turinos get the items from families, and other private parties, never from auctions or estate sales. Also, they do not sell items on consignment.

“It has to touch us, we have to love it,” Theresa said.

Some of the items are more than 200 years old, others are as recent as the 1960s or ‘70s.  The sixties are particularly popular right now, likely due to the TV show “Mad Men,” Theresa said.

Their most prized item, however, is not for sale. The sisters have a copy of “The Women’s Suffrage Cook Book,” which has a copyright of 1886.
