Federal Open Enrollment Underway for New Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) Network Health Direct now available for individuals, families, and small businesses who purchase their own health insurance

Network Health, a nonprofit health plan and Tufts Health Plan subsidiary that provides access to comprehensive health coverage for more than 215,000 Massachusetts residents, announced today that federal open enrollment has begun for the new QHPs established under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for individuals, families, and small businesses looking to buy their own health insurance. Starting October 1, 2013, Network Health Direct will be available for purchase online through the Massachusetts Health Connector (Health Connector) and also through the health plan’s own website.

In 2014, Massachusetts residents with incomes less than 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (lower than $45,960 for an individual or $94,200 for a family of four) will be eligible for new government tax credits and/or subsidies to help make their health insurance more affordable. QHP financial assistance will be available to workers and their families who are not covered under employer-sponsored plans or who do not have access to affordable employer-based coverage. For information on eligibility or help with enrollment, individuals can call Network Health at 888-257-1985 or visit Network-Health.org.

“We are excited for the opportunity to share information about our great benefits and services during this historic, federal open enrollment period,” said Debbie Gordon, Network Health chief sales and marketing officer. “Massachusetts residents now have more options and enhanced benefits, and may qualify for new federal and state programs to offset costs. Network Health has always been, and remains, committed to providing all our members access to the high-quality health care they deserve, at a price they can afford.”
