Say it Ain't So Joe

Greetings Patch Readers,

Several weeks ago, I “discovered” The Patch.   I have commented on a number topics and I feel that I have added to the discussion (some comments tongue in cheek).

Recently, I have had several comments deleted (some within minutes of posting) by a certain Journalist.  I hesitate to call this censorship, but having my entries deleted by Medford’s most vociferous advocate of free speech is a bit perplexing.

I was debating whether I should start my own blog, but this recent affront has made my decision for me.  Rather than just delete my last comment, Joe has uncharacteristically honored me with an explanation.   He must consider me a worthy adversary.  I ask that you read what I posted and tell me if it is, as Joe put it, an “insipid rant.”  BTW:  I welcome any input from the Patch editor.  In comparison to Joe’s continual accusations of cronyism, patronage, infidelity, alcoholism, etc, etc, I was extremely complimentary.

MY "OFFENSIVE" POST:  I’m sorry Joe, but I don’t see the evidence of your “many readers.”  By my count, you have 10 blog posts that are less than a week old.  In total, you have 5 comments, only one of which is not from you.  I have tried to engage you several times only to find my comments gone by the next day.  I thought this part of the Patch was for discussion and debate.  If comments are summarily deleted, the Blog Poster wants to lecture, not discuss.  When I peruse the Patch, I look first for entries that have many comments.  I am far less likely to read a post with no community validation.  Since you have virtually no independent comments, you’re either deleting them or not getting any.  If you can’t acknowledge the opinions of others, then your future posts will not be worth reading.  I think being ignored is worse than being disagreed with, but you may think differently.
