Earthquake shaking tends to be amplified in areas where there are soft soil conditions, according John Ebel, the director of the Weston Observatory, which studies and monitors earthquakes. If you live near a landfill, you will likely feel shaking more strongly than if you live on rock formations, Ebel said.

Paul Cellucci Endroses Scott Brown: Incumbent U.S. Senate candidate Sen. Scott Brown added another former governor to his list of supporters on Wedneday, this time former Governor Paul Cellucci. Cellucci, a Republican, served as lieutenant governor in Massachusetts under Gov. Bill Weld from 1991-1997, then moved on to governor from 1997 to 2001. Brown picked up an  a few weeks ago.

Weather: Rain and highs in the upper 60s are expected today, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday, there's a 60 percent chance of rain with highs around 70. Sunny skies are expected Sunday.

Dalai Lama Visits Medford: On a normal day, if you walk along the triple deckers lining Washington Street and Magoun Avenue not much will stand out from any other Medford neighborhood. Tuesday was no normal day. There were decorated dancers in the street, a market set up on Washington Street and a giant white tent stretched across four backyards. All for a visit from the Dalai Lama. The Kurukulla Tibetan Buddhist center is nestled in among Magoun Avenue homes and it played host to the leader of Tibetan Buddhism. The tent -- which housed 1,800 people, according to event organizers -- was set up in the Center's backyard along with those of three neighbors, who agreed to have fences temporarily taken down to accommodate the event. Inside, chairs and bleachers packed the tent on both ends, enough for 1,800 on-lookers for the sold out event, according to organizers. At the center of the tent, there were tables of relics and other decor in front of a stage.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Comes to Boston this Weekend: More than 7,000 breast cancer survivors and supporters will take to the streets of Boston this weekend for the 2012 Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure. The 5k timed race and untimed walk will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Joe Moakley Park, South Boston.
