Stoneham Schools Employee Allegedly Pretended to Be 14 to Solicit Nude Photo of Teen Girl

STONEHAM—A Stoneham Public Schools employee was charged with posing a child in the nude after he allegedly pretended to be a 14-year-old boy and solicited indecent images from a 15-year-old girl in Maine.

Steven C. Orloff, 47, 189 Potter Road, of Framingham, was arraigned Wednesday in Framingham District Court on charges of distribution of obscene matter and pose or exhibit a child in the nude, said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone in a press statement.

Framingham District Court Judge Robert Greco ordered the defendant held on $20,000 cash bail with conditions to commit no new crimes, no use of the Internet, stay away from Stoneham Public Schools, vacate his marital home, no contact with children under 18, and surrender his passport.

Oleana's Owner Comes to Somerville to Take Over the Former Paddock Restaurant

SOMERVILLE—Ana Sortun, owner and chef of Cambridge's highly acclaimed Oleana and Sofra Bakery and Cafe, is coming to Somerville.

Boston Magazine's "Chowder" blog reports that Sortun will take over the space formerly occupied by The Paddock at 249 Pearl St. The Paddock, which had a  according to one reader, closed in July.

Chowder reports the new restaurant will be a joint venture with Sortun and Oleana's chef de cuisine, Cassie Piuma, who will be a partner and executive chef at the Somerville location.

Arlington Woman, Co-Worker Win $50 Million Powerball Jackpot

ARLINGTON—Dec. 12, 2012 was more than a once-in-a-lifetime date, it was indeed a lucky day for Costco co-workers Rosa DeLeon of Arlington and Reginald LeBlanc of Lexington who reportedly are set to split a $50 million Powerball prize. 

DeLeon and LeBlanc, who work at the Costco in Waltham, purchased a single ticket Wednesday at the Lexington Shell station at 915 Waltham St. that matched all six-numbers drawn last night (video), according to the Massachusetts Lottery website and the organization’s Twitter feed.

Burbine Pleads Not Guilty To Nearly 100 Child Sex Counts

MELROSE—Wakefield resident John Burbine pleaded not guilty to nearly 100 child sex abuse charges at his arraignment Wednesday morning in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.

Burbine, 49, was arrested earlier this month and charged with numerous abuse violations involving children primarily under the age of 3.

Burbine spent much of the hearing looking straight ahead behind glass in a separate room, answering questions primarily with one-word responses. 

The defense waived a dangerousness hearing in this case, which means that Burbine will have no bail for 90 days. After that, he would technically be eligible for $1 million cash bail.
