West Medford Little League Officials Arraigned in Embezzlement Case

A father and son who have served as president and treasurer of the West Medford Little League organization for years were arraigned in Somerville District Court Friday morning on charges they embezzled more than $50,000 over a four year period from the organization.

A judge ordered Stanley and Stephen Komins of Stoneham to surrender their passports and has barred them from leaving Massachusetts. They will next appear in court for a pre-trial hearing Feb. 8.

Medford Home Sales Jump Up in November

This week we reported on an uptick in home sales in the city over the month of November. It was the largest year-over-year increase in 2012, according to the latest figures from The Warren Group. In Medford, 30 single-family homes were sold, a 36 percent increase over the 22 sold in November 2011.

Statewide home sales in November were up 38 percent from a year ago and The Warren Group that it was the best November for sales since 2005.
