America's Romance with the English Garden

The February meeting of the Somerville Garden Club is the setting for a talk by Thomas J. Mickey, graduate of the Landscape Institute at the Boston Architectural College and a certified Master Gardener. He has been gardening for over 25 years and is the garden columnist for Quincy's newspaper, The Patriot Ledger. Mickey will discuss his latest book, America's Romance with the English Garden, about the beginning of the modern garden industry in the 1890's and its contribution to the ongoing influence of English garden design on the American gardener.

The Somerville Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of every month; meetings are free and the public is invited to attend. Each meeting includes club announcements, a horticultural question-and-answer session, a featured lecture or demonstration, and a raffle of donated plants and garden-related items. Meetings are on the second floor, wheelchair accessible. Parking is available on site, and the building is a short walk from the Davis Square T station.
