East Asian Martial Arts Tournament

Come see a traditional East Asian martial arts tournament in person.  Students and Instructors from the New England schools of Oom Yung Doe will be demonstrating a diverse variety of martial art styles and forms.  See this video for examples (http://www.oomyungdoe-ne.com/tournament/) from recent tournaments.  Some of the forms and weapons demonstrated include:

- Monkey form
- Preying mantis
- Drunken fist
- Poisonous snake form
- Eagle form
- Angry dragon
- Tiger Form
- Frog techniques
- Chinese broadsword
- 9 ring sword
- Double Chinese fans
- Wooden Staff
- Spear
- Double Chinese sword
- 3 Section Staff


The tournament will consist of three levels:  Local, State, and Regional.  At the Local level, the practitioner is judged on his or her skill in a single form or weapon. At the State level, the practitioner is judged on his or her all around skill and ability in 2-4 forms.  At the Regional Level the practitioner demonstrates 4-8 forms.  Judging is overseen by an 8th Degree Black Belt from the International Master Level Teaching team.

The tournament schedule will be:

Local, State, and Regional Tournament - 12:30pm-2:30pm
Award Ceremony - 3:00pm

The tournament is taking place Saturday, October 19th, at the McGlynn Middle School located  at 3002 Mystic Valley Parkway in Medford.. The tournament is open to the public and admission is free. 

The tournament is sponsored by the 6 Boston area Oom Yung Doe schools.   For over 25 years, the School of Oom Yung Doe has been teaching 8 complete styles of martial arts including: Kung Fu, Bagwa Chung, Tai Chi Chung, Samurai Sword, 18 Chinese Weapons, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido/Hapkido, and Udo (Ju Jitsu).  Learn more at:  www.oomyungdoe-ne.com
