Sister In Crime Author Panel - "Crime: True and Fictional"

April's Sisters In Crime panel event will be "Crime: True and Fictional”. The authors are:

Kate Flora:

Attorney Kate Flora’s twelve books include seven Thea Kozak mysteries, three gritty police procedurals including "Redemption", a suspense thriller (written as Katharine Clark) and a true crime. "Finding Amy" was a 2007 Edgar nominee and has been optioned for a movie. Her current projects include "Death Dealer", a true crime involving a Canadian serial killer, a screenplay, and a novel in linked stories. Flora’s short stories have appeared in numerous anthologies, including the Sara Paretsky edited collection, "Sisters on the Case". She is a former editor and publisher at Level Best Books, former international president of Sisters in Crime, and a founding member of the New England Crime Bake conference. She teaches writing for Grub Street in Boston.

Michele McPhee:

Michele McPhee is a bestselling author; Emmy-nominated investigative reporter; award-winning columnist and television producer. A veteran crime journalist, she is the best-selling author of five true crime titles: “A Professor’s Rage;” “A Date With Death;” “Heartless – The True Story of Neil Entwistle and the Brutal Murder of His Wife and Baby;” “When Evil Rules;” and “A Mob Story.” “A Professor’s Rage,” is slated to become a television movie. Her book “A Date With Death” was adapted by Sony Pictures for the Lifetime TV movie "The Craigslist Killer" that aired in January 2011. “A Mob Story” is in development as a feature film titled “UnMade Man”. She was the Police Bureau Chief for the New York Daily News, covering murder, mayhem and the Mafia for nearly ten years. A longtime columnist for the Boston Herald, she has covered high-profile crime cases across the country and has been a commentator on breaking news for national programs on CNN, MSNBC, and the Fox News Network. She is also a commentator for Boston affiliates.

Leo J. Maloney:

A former Black Ops contractor for a clandestine government agency, Leo  has acted in independent films and TV commercials. He has 10 movies to his credit both as an actor and behind the camera as a producer, technical advisor, and assistant director, including “27 Down”, where he portrayed a Boston Police Captain, and “Revenge” where he played Special Agent Andrew Garnell of the FBI in Boston. In 2008 he began writing, reliving many of his Black Ops experiences and turning them into his first novel, "Termination Orders". He was signed by Kensington Publishing, and his second novel, "Silent Assassin", was released in September 2013, with his third, "Black Skies", coming out in September 2014.
