West Medford Open Studios preview

West Medford Open Studios is an annual arts event, featuring many local artists. This year's WMOS will be held on May 10 and 11. See www.wmos.org for more information.
Join us as we host several writers who will be participating in West Medford Open Studios. They will present select readings from their works.
Joel Sloman is originally from Brooklyn, NY. His poems have appeared in The Nation, The World, Poetry, and in several anthologies. He has read his poems at MIT, Harvard, Bard, Sarah Lawrence, The Poetry Project, the 92nd Street Y (winning its Discovery Award in 1966), the Guggenheim Museum, Blacksmith House, and Brookline Booksmith. In 1966-1967 he was the assistant director of the The Poetry Project in New York and edited its journal, The World. His books of poems include Virgil’s Machines, Bus Poems, and Stops.
David Chia is a board member of West Medford Open Studios (WMOS). He organizes the readings and reads his own work at WMOS. "Words matter to me. We all get to choose what we say and what we put on paper. So I try to make sure each of my words say what I want them to say. I am interested in the details of everyday life of ordinary and not so ordinary people. The big decisions and actions in life arise from an accumulation of seemingly small deeds and casual observations and conversations."
