Alewife Greenway Mini-Cleanup July 26

Alewife Brook Greenway users are invited to join in a cleanup of a section of the path in Arlington on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers should meet at the bottom of the boardwalk on the greenway, just east of where the path meets Broadway (near the intersection of Route 16/Broadway at the Stop & Shop; across Broadway from Saint Paul’s Cemetery).

Trash will be collected in the area between the path and Alewife Brook, from the boardwalk to Broadway. Alewife Brook is a tributary of the Mystic River. Invasive Japanese knotweed plant also will be cut down and removed.

Bags and gloves will be provided, along with refreshments.  In the event of heavy rain, the cleanup will be canceled.  The cleanup is being organized by a group of path users and neighbors and is sponsored by the Friends of Alewife Reservation with support from the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
