Three Candidates for Mayor, four new candidates for City Council

Three candidates for Mayor. Will we have a Preliminary Election?

Anthony D’Antonio, a resident of South Medford has pulled papers to run for Mayor. Once the signatures are verified, the next question is will we have a Preliminary Election. The trigger for a Preliminary is one more than double the amount of office holders, so at three it is required. Currently Mayor McGlynn and John Byers have taken out nomination papers.

The cost of a Preliminary is estimated at $30,000 and previously in Medford a home rule petition was submitted to the Governor and it passed eliminating the election.

Four new candidates for City Council have also pulled papers to run. http://jimmymorse.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/three-candidates-for-mayor-four-new-for-city-council/
