Dare I ask about West Medford Hillside Little League

First of all, let me say I know the current West Medford Hillside Little League is in good hands with respectable people. Many changes were made over the past couple years to incorporate changes with other sections of the city and consolidate leagues.

Of course I am referring to the debacle that happened around December 2012.

Ironically – the court date that was set back then was likely canceled because of a snow storm. I’ve tried to get details and tried to follow the story. Nothing has happened since then that I can see publicly – Other than the case has made its way back to court recently.

Allegations are that Stan/Steve misappropriated funds from WMHLL for personal gain. I wanted to follow the story for a few reasons. 

A.)  I was shocked to hear of the charges.

B.)   I knew both of them and would not have figured either of them to be guilty.

C.)  While I was never a WMHLL Board member, I did participate as a Coach for several years. I dedicated my time – as a coach – to organize the game and teach young kids simply how to play the game. (and not get hurt in the meantime)

But what happened, apparently happened.  I’m not judging because I simply don’t know. But I am interested to see how things go.

From what I know (and please enlighten me if you know more), WMHLL back then had NO affiliation with the City - or the Mayor - as someone out there in Patch is making allegations.

The people that were duped are the parents of WMHLL players that paid dues, but perhaps more importantly the proceeds from the concession stand. I participated in that league for several years – as a Coach – dedicating my personal time. Never EVER was I under the impression a youth baseball league – run basically by a very few trusted people that appeared to be dedicated to the good cause – had something very bad going on.

All I know is I was doing the right thing by getting involved as a Coach.

So if the allegations are true – then I would be a victim as well, just like everyone else. And THAT pisses me off !!  Not just for me – but for everyone who was duped.
