The 3rd Annual Haines Square Fall Festival and 5K Road Race

We love our town for a million reasons...People from all over know Medford to be a city full of those who believe in community spirit. We don't just wave at our neighbors...We cross the street, sit down on their porches and talk about our day, because, it's expected and welcomed.

We know the value of the relationships we hold with one another as well as the benefits of supporting our community businesses......How many of you have gone to Modern Hardware for a roll of electrical tape, only to find yourself happily engrossed in conversation with George Thurrott? Show of hands, how many of you or your children, have sat in "Fancy Nancy's" chair for a cut & color or a trim to start the new school year?

Of course, you know I'm speaking directly about the wonderful proprietors of Haines Square, located on Salem Street. They have taken their commitment to Medford and to each other to a whole new level.

For the 3rd year in a row, the businesses of Haines Square have worked together to coordinate an amazing afternoon. One which will not only provide us wonderful entertainment and raise money for a worthwhile cause. It will also honor the ingenuity and significant historical contribution of one of it's most notable businesses - The former Hanley Sound.

For those of you who don't know, the Hanley brothers worked out of their storefront on Salem St(now Dunkin Donuts) back in the 1950's, 60's and 70's. They're best known for engineering and building the sound systems used in Bethel NY in 1969 at the original Woodstock Music Festival. They have also provided sound for numerous Beatles concerts and have helped thousands more big name artists over the years. Their business is no longer in Haines Square, but at this years Fall Festival, Hanley Sound will be honored for their work in front of the whole town!

Please check out the flyer we've attached for more information about the festival, which takes place on October 19th at 10am. Join the 5K Road Race to benefit diabetes research, listen to live music on their soundstage, visit all of the vendors(RE/MAX Leading Edge included) and see the best of Medford!
