Edward Patrick Farren of Medford died on Aug. 21 at the age
He served as the chief of police and fiscal plant director for Suffolk University for 13 years, before retiring in 1991, according to an obituary on Legacy.com. He also worked as a police officer at Tufts University and as security manager for Gilchrist Department Store.
He is survived by his daughter Brenda Marie Farren of Melrose, sons, Mark Edward Farren and his wife Lauren of Nashua, N.H. and Michael David Farren of Malden; his grandchildren Ryan Nathaniel Nazworth and Cameron Mark Nazworth both of Vero Beach, Fla and Kayla Marie Farren and Kelsi Elizabeth Farren both of Nashua, N.H.; his brother, George Robert Farren of Stoneham; his sister, Mariellen Snyder of Fairfax, Va.; sisters-in-laws Betty Rawson of Medford and Kathleen Kelly of Leverett; his dear friend Carol Horan of Shirley and his best friend David Finucane of Maynard. He was also predeceased by his former spouse, Marie F. Farren.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 27 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway W., in Medford at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Aug. 26 in the Beals-Geake Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave. in Medford, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be held in St. Patricks Cemetery in Stoneham.
