Giovanni Passanisi, Medford Resident, Retired Bricklayer, Dies at 70

Passanisi died Monday, Dec. 2.

Giovanni Passanisi, 70, of Medford, died Monday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Rosa (Miduri) Passanisi. Giovanni served in the Italian navy before moving to the United States and working for 45 years as a bricklayer.

He was the beloved husband of Carol (Trewitt) Passanisi and the devoted step-father of Anthony Comita and his wife Melissa of Malden. Giovanni was the loving grandfather of Nicole Comita of Saugus, Anthony Comita Jr. of Malden, and brother of Domenica D'Amico, Liliana Conti, both of Italy, Mario Passanisi of Everett, and the late Gaetano, Giuseppe and Angelo Passanisi. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
