Kathleen Towne, Longtime Medford Resident, Dies at 93

Towne died Thursday, Jan. 23.

Mrs. Kathleen Mary (Gore) Towne, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Philip W. Towne, died at her home on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014. She was 93.

Born in Cambridge on Dec. 29, 1920, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Hannaford) Gore. Mrs. Towne was employed as a clerk for the Boston Gas Company for many years. In her spare time, Kathleen loved to travel and had visited Hawaii and all over Europe. Above all, she loved being with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She will be missed by her loving son: Philip M. and his wife Janice C. Towne of Medford; grandchildren: Brighid Towne and Michael and his wife Anna Towne; and great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Connor Towne.

Funeral from the Belas-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford, on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 9 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday at 1:15 p.m. For additional information, please visit www.magliozzifuneralhome.com.
