Obituary: Gary R. LeFave, 66, Former Matignon Principal

Gary R. LeFave, 66, of West Peabody, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington after a short illness.  

He was the husband of 45 years to Judith (Domigan) Le Fave. He was born in Everett, MA on May 8, 1948, the son of Armand J. and Shirley (Matsen) Le Fave and was raised there and had resided in Saugus before moving to Peabody 26 years ago.  

He was graduate of Boston University and received his Master Degrees from the University of Vermont and later at Salem State University. He first started teaching biology at Matignon High School in Cambridge and later was the curriculum co-ordinator and the a Department Head and Vice Principal before becoming the Principal of Matignon for 10 years retiring in 2003. He then became an environmental Science teacher at the Northeast Regional Technology School in Wakefield for the past 11 years. He also served a head of the National Honor Society there and also headed the STEM Coordinator system there.   

Gary loved to go fishing in New Hampshire lakes and was an outdoorsman enjoying the environment, the birds and seeing nature take is course. He also built his log home in New Hampshire and enjoyed time spent there with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judith of Peabody, his parents of  Everett, his children and their spouses, Gary LeFave and his wife Bridget of Newburyport, MA, Phillip and his wife Danielle Le Fave of Tampa, FL, Jonathan and his wife Tiffany Le Fave of Sunnyvale, CA and Jeffrey Le Fave and his wife Cynthia  Delauri of  Wakefield, MA, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard “Dick” and Linda Le Fave of Voluntown, CT and a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Ronald  Ferrera of Wakefield, MA, his cherished Grandchildren, Kaleigh, Aiden, Addison, Ella Matthew and Ryan any many friends.

A Private Family Service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
