It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Helen (DiGiovanni) Cataldo on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
We celebrate a life well lived by a kind and gentle lady whose memory will be treasured forever. Devoted wife to the late Eugene “Jack” Cataldo and loving and caring “Mum” to Geraldine Cataldo of Medford, Sabino “Sonny” Cataldo and his wife Geri of Reading, and the late Eugene “Gene” Cataldo formerly of Somerville. Mother-in-law to Gay Cataldo of Melrose. Grammie to Sabino Cataldo III and wife Tracy, Anthony Cataldo and wife Lisa, Michael Cataldo and wife Tina, Jeanmarie Cataldo, James Cataldo and wife Lisa, Andrea Thibeault and husband Dave and the late Eugene Cataldo III. Helen leaves 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Helen was born in Boston to the late Joseph and Amalia (Pascalini) DiGiovanni and is predeceased by siblings: Annie Serena, Emma Sementa, Mary Simone, Ida Crea and Anthony DiGiovanni.
Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Thursday, Jan. 2, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday morning at 9:30 with a mass of Christian burial in St. Joseph Church at 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Helen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908, or to Hallmark Health Hospice, 178 Savin St., Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148.
