Obituary: Italia Giovino, Worked at Medford High School

Giovino died Thursday, March 20.

Italia Giovino, of Medford, died Thursday in the Wilmington Health Care Center.

Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Faustino and Angelina (DiPietro) Vacca. She emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1955 where she settled in Medford for over 50 years. Italia worked as a seamstress until she took a position at Medford High School where she worked until retirement. She was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare evening and Sunday meals for family and friends.

Italia was the beloved wife of Pasquale Giovino and devoted mother of Linda Jean Wilson and her husband Richard of Wilmington, Anthony Giovino and his wife Laurie of Westford. She was the loving grandmother of Michael and Cristina Wilson, Anthony, Nicholas and Alexandria Giovino. She was the sister-in-law of Carmelinda Inglese and her husband John and Joseph Manganiello, all of Medford, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Tuesday, March 25, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
