Obituary: John Mirley Sr., Retired Medford Deputy Fire Chief

Mirley died Friday, Jan. 31.

John A. Mirley Sr., of Winthrop, formerly of Medford, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Beloved husband of Phyllis (Brown) Mirley and loving father of Diane Cultrera of Revere, John Mirley Jr. of Winthrop, Ellen and her husband Jay Walsh of Medford, and Lawrence and Christopher Mirley, both of Winthrop. Loving grandfather of Ryan and Jessica Walsh and Michael Cultrera. Brother of the late Gertrude Davey and Helen Maclean.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Cincotti Funeral Home, 421 High St., Medford. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours prior to the service from 8-10 am.

Retired Deputy Fire Chief of the City of Medford, U.S. Navy Veteran, WWII. First designer of the arm patch for the Medford Fire Department. Helped design the Training Center adjacent to the Medford Fire Headquarters. Member American Legion Post 1045.
