Obituary: Vito D'Ovidio

D'Ovidio died Saturday, April 19.

Vito D'Ovidio, 90, of Lynn, died Saturday, April 19, after a brief illness in the VA Boston Healthcare System West Roxbury Campus.

Born and raised in Medford, he lived in Lynn for the past 10 years and was the son of the late Amelia (DeSantis) and James D'Ovidio. Vito was a truck driver for many years with M & M freight and retired in 1984. He served in the USW Army during World War II from 1943-1946. A member of Local 25, the Volunteer Yacht Club in Lynn, Medford VFW Post 1012 and the Medford American Legion Post 45. He loved boating, fishing and playing cards.

Former husband of the late Rita (Brewster) D’Ovidio. Devoted father of John D'Ovidio and his wife Gail of Medford, Bertha Ricci and her husband Delio of Billerica, Anna McDonald and her husband Edward of Everett, Thomas D'Ovidio of Hudson, N.H., Patricia Bruno and her husband Anthony, Dora Volpe and her husband Vincent, all of Billerica, and the late Rosie D’Ovidio. Loving grandfather of Keith and Edward McDonald, Michael, Nina and Joseph Ricci, RitaMarie and Melissa Bruno and T.J. D'Ovidio. Loving great grandfather of Teagan, Tatum, Brianna, Nicholas and Gunner. Brother of Emily Nardone of Arlington and the late Ralph and John D’Ovidio, Anna Solari, Rosie Masi and Dora Masi.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Vito’s name to the Disable American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Springs, KY 41076, www.DAV.org.
