Richard Nilo Sr., 89, Medford Resident, World War II Vet

Richard Nilo Sr. of Medford died on July 11 at the age of 89.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary (Toscano) and children Richard Nilo Jr. of Revere, Kristina Nilo-Downs and her husband Thomas of Medford. He was also the loving "Papa" of Matthew Nilo, Alexa Downs and Thomas Downs IV, brother of the late Mary and Dominic Nilo, Emily Beebe, Lillie Caputo, and brother-in-law of Louis D'Addario of Saugus, according to an obituary on the Dello Russo Funeral Home website.

Nilo was born and raised in Somerville and settled in Medford after serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an industrial engineer at the Boston Naval Shipyard.

Relatives and friends can attend a funeral will be held at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. in Medford on Wednesday, July 17 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Raphael Church, 512 High St. in Medford, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
