Theresa Leone, Longtime Medford Resident, Dies at 88

Leone lived in Medford for more than 60 years.

Theresa E. (DeNunzio) Leone, of Medford, died Friday at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a long illness. She was 88.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Theresa was the daughter of the late Sabato and Mary (Bruno) DeNunzio. A Medford resident for over 60 years, Theresa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was an active member of St. Francis Parish and served as President of the Mother’s Club and was a member of the Sodality.

The beloved wife of Angelo A. Leone, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, she was a devoted mother to Margaret McGillivray of N. Attleboro, Mary Ellen Santangelo and her husband Raymond of Woburn and the late David C. Leone. She was a loving grandmother to Theresa, William, Elizabeth, Gina and Mia. The dear sister of Geraldine DiClemente of Medford, Eleanor Cotreau of Arlington, Sam DeNunzio of Arizona, the late Mary Gravelese, Evelyn Moses, Dolores Gulla and Rita Doyle, she leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Monday 4-8 p.m.
